Past the peninsula jutting into the Columbia River that is west of Wintler Park and looking backtowards the east, you see the I-205 bridge to Portland and glorious Mt. Hood covered in snow in the background. Last summer I walked across that bridge several times. It was a very noisy walk because the pedestrian lane was in the middle of cars going both ways.
The peninsula used to be undeveloped with berry patch overgrowth and a "hole"in the peninsula where one could see the river beneath. It was scary. They filled the hole and paved the peninsula and added many benches and flowering plants after tearing out the berry bushes. It is now a beautiful place for a stroll and to sit awhile when the sun is shining.
