What a marvelous, expansive welcome!
I remember old postcard I had from my father (Hewas near Seattle when he was young), with such totems build by Indians; i like them, I find them very moving and impressive!
I saw a totem like this once on the wharf of Victoria Island. The intricacy of the carving is amazing.
Being greeted by the totem pole sure says you've arrived in the Northwest. It looks like you had some damp weather up there, too.
It looked imposing! BTW, we have got one too. It was a present many years ago from Seattle, our Sister City in the US.
The wings high up are open wide as if to say all are welcome here. Nice.
