Purple ain't half bad either!

These were so inviting when my friend and I were walking around a neighborhood in the Nob Hill district in Portland.

  1. A great color for that flower; i knew the blue, and the pink, but never saw purple ones!

  2. You've been making a color collection, haven't you? I think you mentioned that.

Did you know that these flowers--hydrangea--can range from pink to blue, and sometimes on the same plant? The difference is in the acidity of the soil--they are like litmus paper, though I don't know how the ones on the same plant can end up being different colors.

  3. I love them! So, so pretty and they dry so well to make bouquets for the winter!

  5. I've never seen them this pretty shade of lavender. I have seen them in pink, blue and white, though.

  7. Aren't hydrangeas wonderful? You can even dry them and bring them indoors.

  8. I want to know- How do you get purple? Are they special, or what do you have to feed them. Paulie, great shot to get me thinking!
