Many boats on the Columbia, not only for Salmon fishing!
Looking towards the railroad bridge over the Columbia.
Even a tugboat traveling down river probably to pick up a barge.
I love to take photos through different objects and love how each rectangle of the bridge captured some fishing boats.  I think I  put this  photo on earlier. . . but  good way to finish off this series from Monday's walk.

On the Columbia #7 -- From the shores of Vancouver to the shores of Portland

No matter where you view the Columbia River from, its beauty provides memories for a lifetime.

On the Columbia #6

This is Wendy Rose, a sculpture made by women about women who worked in the Kaiser shipyards during the war when the men were off fighting.  They built the ships the men used to fight.  I have featured this Wendy Rose in the past but stopping by on my walk was a good break on the way home along the Columbia.  CLICK on to see better.

On the Columbia #5

This is the last view of the Columbia before the trail takes you to Marine Park.  Over by the trees, there is a small beach.

On the Columbia #4

Past the peninsula jutting into the Columbia River that is west of Wintler Park and looking backtowards the east, you see the I-205 bridge to Portland and glorious Mt. Hood covered in snow in the background.  Last summer I walked across that bridge several times.  It was a very noisy walk because the pedestrian lane was in the middle of cars going both ways.

The peninsula used to be undeveloped with berry patch overgrowth and a "hole"in the peninsula where one could see the river beneath.  It was scary.  They filled the hole and paved the peninsula and added many benches and flowering plants after tearing out the berry bushes.  It is now a beautiful place for a stroll and to sit awhile when the sun is shining.

On the Columbia #3

This is my favorite tree to photograph along the Columbia near Wintler Beach.

On the Columbia. . . #1

In the background, you can just see Mt. Hood in Oregon.  In front of it is a private bridge going up to a home on the beach and an old dock posts.  The beach is Wintler Park Beach..

Nothing better than to "sit by the sea. . ."

I already used this bench a long time ago on my bench blog.  This time, I am showing it in its environment.  That tiny bit of blue last week sure looked great!

This is the same bench looking towards bench -- I like the Columbia River view better!

O Columbia, How beautiful you are in winter . . .

I am using this as my screen saver on my new computer.  I love to see the strength of the waves of water even tho they are not high waves.  This was taken just as winter was coming to Vancouver this year.

Portland Skyline Across the Columbia

Taken in early December when we had nice weather. . . plane looks like it is heading for Portland International but it really came across the river and landed at Pearson Airfield in Vancouver.
