More views of the beach at Olympic Peninsula

No matter how you looked at this beach on the Pacific Ocean, it looked wonderful!

Driftwood on the beach at Olympic national Park

Driftwood in abundance is the word for this beach.  Whether the logs came from elsewhere or from beach erosion that toppled the trees doesn't matter.  It's a staple on this beach!  These are just a few of the examples.  I have already used other photos of it  and when we did the beach cleanup on Saturday the weekend we went there, it was log next to log against the shore and many times we walked over the logs to pick up debris that didn't belong on the beach.

Willy Vlautin, author from Portland, Oregon

A friend took us to Powell's Bookstore where we met this local author.

He read a little to us from his newest book, his third. . .
Then, he autographed books.  I bought all three of his and almost have the  latest one read.  It takes place at Portland Meadows and I feel like I am there as I am familiar with the area.  The book is called, "Lean on Pete" which is the name of a horse at the race track but the story is about a 15 year old and his relationship with this horse.  I have only half of it read. . . Ü  (Now have it all read!)

The author also wrote "The Motel Life" and "Northline."

I wanted to share with you about an author I met last night.  Blogger won't let me upload any photos.  I tried using my new computer, my 5 year old one and even a PC in the computer room upstairs.  I cannot upload even one photo.  I guess my blogging days are over unless I can find a solution.  Thanks for stopping by anyway.

Turtle or anteater?

Kathy thought this looked like an anteater but I saw this side first and thought it was a giant tortoise.  See it's head looking to the left with the shell and feet?  Then. . .
I looked on the other side and met her anteater!

Special French Toast for breakfast at the beach

All three of us had this special French Toast coated with nuts for breakfast WHEN it  poured down rain  and we couldn't cook out at our beach camp.  It was so good but filling and I could not eat all of mine and now I wiosh I had asked to take my leftovers with me instead of wasting it. The good thing is that by coming to their restaurant in their hotel, I found the gift shop and was able to get postcards for my friend in France!  Waiting for the restaurant to open, I wrote on three of them and even mailed them from the Olympic National Forest. (I would love to get the recipe for this specialty.)

Sunset at the Beach , , ,

We walked along the beach just as the sun was setting. . . "tomorrow" we would be cleaning the beach of debris with many other volunteers  . . . so tonight we would just take in the beauty of the sunset along this beach near our campground.

Each new wave made the sunset look different!

Sometimes, it brought out the beauty and strength of the waves.

The contrast of the orange sunset and blue sky was delightful!

It required a closer look . . .
The darkness of the beach contrasted with the blue sky under the  last rays of the golden sun. . .

One photo wasn't enough!

The golden rays peeked through the  brush as we climbed the stairs to our campground and took just one more peek at the setting sun.

Last glance back and the sky was golden as far as you could see, a memory to last a nighttime of dreams.

Wave snake --Olympic National Park (beach)

The waves coming in on the beach looked like a snake to me, a very long one!

Many boats on the Columbia, not only for Salmon fishing!
Looking towards the railroad bridge over the Columbia.
Even a tugboat traveling down river probably to pick up a barge.
I love to take photos through different objects and love how each rectangle of the bridge captured some fishing boats.  I think I  put this  photo on earlier. . . but  good way to finish off this series from Monday's walk.
